Sometimes, as an Aries, kinda type A, 40-something-year-old woman going through perimenopause, I get unreasonable.
I know this.
In the moment, I’m right! I know I am. How dare anyone have the audacity to not do things my way!
Saturday morning was that day.
Let’s just say there was an argument over a mop.
Yes… a mop..or rather an argument over WHO was going to re-mop a floor because I hadn’t noticed the mop was sour until AFTER the mopping was done.
There may or may not have been a full-blown argument where someone told me to sit down and let them do it.
There may have been…. I blacked out.
I flounced myself off to Whole Foods to Return an Amazon Package, still righteous in my anger. Making up scenarios and comebacks and arguments in my mind.
Until I saw the yellow tulips.
They were bright, cheerful, and already opening up.
Suddenly, through my frown and righteous anger, I decided that it was a beautiful day and that these tulips would look lovely on the counter in my newly mopped and cleaned kitchen.
And a kitchen sink cookie would feel good in my belly.
I came home, the floor was remopped, with no sign of the sour smell. The kitchen was shiny and clean.
I smiled, my mood completely changed, and proceeded to read for the rest of the afternoon,
I swear, the power of tulips…( and waning hormones, but let’s ignore that for now) .

In case you didn’t know, I am a Royal follower. So I’ve been following this where is Kate fiasco since January when they first vaguely announced her three-month hiatus. If you are just catching up here is a great substack about the unraveling of a royal fairytale.
Is anyone else watching Shogun on Hulu? Even though half of the show is in subtitles, I love it! Specifically, because the fact that there are subtitles means that I have to focus on the show and nothing else. Usually, I multitask on my phone, on housework or website work or whatever when I’m watching a show. But this has forced me to slow down and pay attention. It’s my Friday night ritual to catch up on a new episode.
Hulu actually has really good shows I’ve been discovering. Check out this list right here for suggestions to add to your to-be-watched list.
I’m currently listening to this book on audio and … I can’t figure out quite how I feel about the main character or the book but I keep listening because I’ve reached the part when I’m compelled to figure out what happens after the main character is found by her boyfriend’s wife in their house…
If you remember, last fall I purged almost all of my spring and summer clothes. So now, I’m rebuilding with a few staples. I ordered these basic tanks from Target that are on sale right now and this cute Linen blend shirt from H&M that is also..on sale.
Ok that’s not all, but that’s all I’ve got this morning
Talk to you soon,
LaShawn
“Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself.”
Beautiful blooms are powerful! And, yes, that linen shirt is really cute.
