Currently in May
Hey Boos Hey!
Whew chile, it’s been a week!
My sister in law asked me what was happening for Mother’s Day and I told her I had no idea. My plan was to be in bed all day reading several books.
My expectations are in hell for this day, so I’m never disappointed. ( does that sound bitter? Or sad? It’s really not….)
However, the boy made my breakfast and wrote me a beautiful letter that I need laminated. (I ugly cried ya’ll) CDub grilled me some steaks and I got to kiss on my Mama.
( me, my mama and my cousin)
Basically, it was a good day.
Anyway, I have a busy brain this morning, so it’s time for this month’s edition of Currently. In case you are new here, Currently is a monthly installment where I talk about what I’m currently feeling, reading, watching, planning, etc etc.
Ok. let’s get to it.
This Month, I’m Currently…
Feeling
A variety of emotions. I haven’t sorted them out yet. I’ll let you know when I do LOL.
Reading ( books)
My TBR is out of control. So bad that I had to return all but one of my library books and I put myself on restriction. I can’t request anymore books from net galley, buy anymore books or download anything new.
So, even though I am a mood reader down to my core, this month, I’m going to stick to a TBR and only read extra books IF I finish said TBR
SO MY own personal TBR this month includes 8 books:
As you can see, I finished two on the list.
I’m currently listening to Start with Your Self, My E Book is Love is a War Song( for my romance bookclub) and my physical book is Score . ( and Beloved for bookclub. Bless it all)

People keep saying: you need a hobby. But no one ever tells you how to find one.

Loving
I started walking outside again and listen…thick thighs save lives and all but they also rub together. I’ve been using this Thigh Rescue Gel and my thighs thank me.
Let me tell you..I love a good romper in the summer. But..I love a long one. Like this one I ordered last week.
I don’t care if it sounds irrational, I needed a summer coffee mug. Don’t tell CDub.
Also, I needed to shades. These oversized retro shades were calling me.
Watching
Old Shows and Movies.
For some reason, I had an itch to watch The Originals. If you don’t know, it’s a spinoff of the Vampire Diaries( which I never watched ironically ) about the Original Vampires and their return to New Orleans. I love me some Elijah and Niklaus and Hayley! And it has witches, vampires and werewolves oh my! There are five seasons. I watch one or two a week. I might be done next year lol.
But Netflix also came through with all the good rom coms and great movies from the 90s and 2000s. I watched Steel Magnolias yesterday and mouthed every word while crying. Next up is either There is Something about Mary or Pretty Woman. It’s a good time.
Thinking About
The Boy has two weeks left in his 11th grade year, so in two weeks, I’ll have a rising senior.
A SENIOR.
This baby boy
Will be a SENIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL.
Time is a thief.
I’ve been struggling with how to share this last year without taking away his privacy, especially since many of you have followed us since he was about 1 or 2.
It feels like a full circle moment to close out this chapter in my life and his with his senior year. I’m going to figure out a way to share it from my( his parent’s) perspective.
It’s not that he minds me sharing. We have a good balance going and I always ask before I take photos and share them. And before I share big details of his life. He has full approval when you see him on my feed.
I think I have an idea, but I’ll most likely marinate on it all summer before I put it into place. Just know that we are in this together internet Aunties. He appreciates all of you.
Ok friends. That’s all I’ve got for you today. It’s time to go torture myself with a Pilates class.

P.S. Our bookclub is reading Toni Morrison this year, and you can still join us. Our book discussions are going great. For $5 a month, you get access to weekly chats, a book-loving community committed to learning, and a monthly virtual book club meeting. We are currently reading Beloved.

We've been attending book festivals and my TBR is standing upright with the grace of God, lol. (I'm not even counting the Audible books. 🤦🏾♀️)
Been rewatching a lot of older shows. Presently rewatching being Mary Jane & reading This Could Be Us by Kennedy Ryan. I won tickets to a Kennedy Ryan book talk with her next week & am excited about that. Also re reading Beloved. My fave!
