Currently in August
Happy Monday friends! It’s a new month AND a new week! The podcast is back this week, the August Eyecandy Challenge started on IG and I’m looking forward to getting back on my routine, officially.
My brain is overloaded today because the Boy went back to school today and I’m overwhelmed from all the shopping and prep we had to do and the fact that I had to go to 4 grocery stores yesterday in order to find the Boy’s favorite gluten free bread for lunches. Bless it.
Anyway, let’s talk about what else is currently going on in my life!

Feeling
Today is this baby’s last first day of school. He is a senior.
How SWAY?
As usual, I wrote a letter to him, like I have practically all his life. ( I started writing them on my blog in 2013 when he was 3. )
Someone asked me how I was doing. My answer is somedays I’m fine and I’m ready to help him start this new adventure he’s going on in the next year. Even rush him out the door. And some days I want to wail at the sky that time went too fast and I just want my cuddly little pookah bear baby back. LOOK AT HIM.
But anyway. Follow along this year because I’m going to need to express myself about the fees, the journey, the college apps, THE FEES, the letting go, the prom, THE FEES.
Ok. you get it.
Watching

I have to catch up on House of Dragons and The Vampire Lestat but in the meantime, I discovered this show called Adults this summer. Kind of reminds me of How I met your mother? But for Gen Z? It is hilarious! Unhinged even. There was one episode that literally had me rolling on the couch laughing. The line “HE. IS. FLUID.” will always crack me up now. The episodes aren’t long. And now I’m invested in Anton and Paul Baker.
Reading
I am currently reading three books:
For my Kindle book: If Not for My Baby by Kate Golden. I started this last year on audio, and loved it but for some reason, could not get past like 50%? Something about some romances on audio…don’t do it for me. So I put it aside. I picked it back up over the weekend and I keep saying: omg this is so cute and good. So kindle it is.
For my audio book, I am 75% done with Abby Offsides by Anna McCallie. Its a “romance” that reads more like women’s fiction and at this point, I can’t tell how this will be a HEA( Happily ever after). I can’t wait to review this. I sat in my car screaming at the main characters on Sunday and I’m sure the person in the car next to me thought I was crazy. I feel like my morals should keep me from liking this book but since I live in the gray areas…I LOVE THIS BOOK.
My Physical Book. I’m supposed to be reading King Sorrow by Joe Hill. The problem with King Sorrow is that it is 896 pages. I don’t know if I want to commit. LOL.
Add to that, all my library holds came in at once so I think Helpless By Jessica Knoll might bump it. I feel like a thriller might work since I’m already reading two romances. The problem with King Sorrow is that it is 896 pages. I don’t know if I want to commit. LOL.
Loving
My Oleheniksen Banana Bright +Vitamin C Eye cream. I was being cheap and was using one from that supposed Korean Skin Care brand that is all over Amazon. Baby no. My skin is like girl we don’t do that. This has worked on me FOREVER. Why change at 50.
If you have dark undereye circles and need moisture, THIS IS THE EYECREAM FOR YOU.
The end.
Making
I think its time for my second attempt to make another loaf of sourdough. Even though its summer, it’s time to practice for the fall lol. I have a new starter. Her name may or may not be Doughlene ( get it..Jolene?)
Cackles.
Thinking about
Routines. Every summer, I’m so happy to turn off that alarm, sleep in and let go of the rigid routines of the school year. I spent lots of lazy mornings in the hammock, took an hour over my coffee, stopped what I was doing and read books all day. Ate ice cream when the mood hit me. You know…summer things.
But today marked the return to routine and as always, my brain is grateful. Because no matter how much I want to go with the flow in theory, after a while, my brain starts itching and I need my routine back.
Which leads me to wonder on this last first day of school, what on earth am I going to do after this year? Just float in a world of non routine? For the last 16 years really, my life has revolved around this child and whatever daycare or school or activity he has.
I can barely remember my life before, but I do know that most of my routines developed AFTER he was born.
SO what do my routines become when he is no longer the priority, driving most of the decisions about my day?
These are the thoughts I’m having. And I guess by the time next August rolls around, we shall see.
Ok friends, that’s all I have today. I’m going to go do some Pilates!!! Yes Pilates is back now that my regular routines are back. I decided why change a good thing.

I’m in disbelief at how fast all the internet babies have grown up, mine included. 🥹I saw you comment about Adults yesterday and I started watching. I love it! They are very much unhinged!
I think for routine I plan on going through summer next year on the same routine I use for school and don't take a break see how it goes. Cheers to a new year.
